What holds you back from doing what you know you need to do, may not be as cut and dry as you think. You may chalk it up to lack of motivation and leave it at that. But, maybe there’s more.
Maybe you’re not doing what needs to be done because you’re not ready, and you’re not ready because you’re misaligned. Misalignment is an indication that the mind, body, and spirit is not on the same page. You can feel it…something feels off and you’re not quite ready to take the next step.
You think about taking it, but your body just doesn’t seem to want to follow. You know what you need to do, but you just can’t seem to do it. Or you start but cannot remain consistent.
Where there is hesitation, there is space. There is space between where you are now and where you want to be. And you’ve “tried everything” to fill that space, to get you closer to where you want to be.
You’ve filled the space with self-judgment, criticism, forced action, and attempts to manipulate feelings, all in an effort to “get there”.
And this hasn’t worked because where there is hesitation, there is need for energetic alignment.
You are energy, and energy cannot be forced. Energy is real, raw, and honest. It is reflective of who and where you are, at any moment in time. So, it’s not about forcing yourself to be, feel, or do certain things. It’s about slowing down to listen to what the body is trying to tell you, what it needs from you.
There is hesitation, because on a deeper level, your body knows what it needs…and in its own way, has been trying to tell you.
It wants true, energetic alignment.
And true, energetic alignment doesn’t come by means of force, but allowance.
So, how do you begin to realign and get to a place that feels like natural progression toward what you want? How do you begin to fill the space between hesitation and where you want to be?
Through trial and error and as I continue to learn and grow, I believe there is only one way to do it:
Fill the space with love.
You are used to filling the space with negativity, not necessarily because you want to, but because you think that if you yell loud enough, get mad enough, get frustrated enough, get annoyed enough...it will change...you will change. Yet, you continue to dig a deeper hole of disappointment, shame, guilt, sadness, etc.
Flood the space with love by practicing:
Patience: Give yourself time to understand the body. Hear and listen to what the body is trying to tell you. Don’t put a time limit on what needs to be done. Don’t put specifics on what you need to know.
Compassion: Give yourself grace for trial and error, for mistakes. Forgive yourself for the self-judgment and criticism. Forgive yourself for the negative self-talk and self-doubt. Release expectations and
Acceptance: Give yourself space to grow by accepting who you are right now, and know that you are enough. You have what you need right now, to get you where you want to go…even if you cannot see it or feel it. Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up. It doesn’t signify a lack of faith. It signifies trust in this moment, that all the power you need can only be accessed at this moment.
Understanding: Give yourself permission to be a student. A student looks to be guided and supported. They look to understand. They know that someone or something knows more than they do, and they are open to learning something new. They understand that they don’t have it all figured out, but are willing to take the next step even without fully knowing everything.
Your inability to do what you want to do, isn’t simply a lack of motivation.
You are being called to practice love on a deeper level, and to know yourself more than you’ve ever known yourself before. To access parts of yourself that you may not even know exist, parts that up until now, have remained dormant.
Your body is guiding you to depths of growth and self-awareness, to exploration of love and understanding. And as you continue this path of self-discovery, all that you want will arrive as a biproduct of real, genuine, energetic alignment, and connection to SELF.
