Why Your Reality Is Not Set In Stone

Every day, every choice, big or small, lends to the creation of our reality. We get to choose, every day, the life we create.

Ever wonder how some people seem off in their own little world? Or it seems as though nothing really affects them? They may even live in the same community or household, yet it’s as if they are existing somewhere else? I admit, sometimes I feel like one of those people. And at times, it feels a bit strange, like I’m an outsider peering into another time. But before I lose you, let me explain.

We are all living unique lives from different perspectives. We all carry with us many different beliefs and views of the world. We all carry with us different experiences that have shaped who we are. We are living many different lives at the same time. We live in a multiverse with many people living in their own universe…we are all the universe experiencing itself in many different ways.

Allan Watts, the late English philosopher and writer, known for his interpretation of Indian and Chinese traditions, states:

“You are the universe experiencing itself”.

“Life is the universe experiencing itself, in endless variety.”

Eckhart Tolle, German born spiritual teacher and author, makes a similar statement:

“You are the universe expressing itself as a human, for a little while.”

So, what does this mean and how does it pertain to us?

As mentioned, each of us carry with us our own unique view of the world. Each of us live a unique life, therefore it’s safe to say that not only are we experiencing the universe in different ways, but we are creating many universes.

The reason there are those who seem to be living in a different world, is because they are. They figured out how to create for themselves, the kind of world they choose to live in. To some this may seem naïve and ignorant, maybe even dangerous. It may seem as if they are ignoring “the real” world…yet the world they live, IS the real world, for them.

I came across the following,

“Two twin boys were raised by an alcoholic father. One grew up to be an alcoholic and when asked what happened he said "I watched my father." The other grew up and never drank in his life. When he was asked what happened he said "I watched my father."

Two brothers, same father, two different perspectives, two different outcomes.

We look outside our window right now, hell, we might even look outside our bedroom door right now, and we may see poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, abuse, neglect, depression, hopelessness, sadness, etc. We may see all of this and assume that is the only reality that exists for us. We assume that because it has always been this way, or because everyone around us lives like this, or because change seems impossible…we think that is our only reality, that where we are and who we are is set in stone.

But nothing is set in stone.

Will it be easy to change thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors? ABSOLUTELY, NOT.

But is it possible? ABSOLUTELY.

We have to fight for what we want. We have to make a conscious effort, every day, to change our perspective, thoughts, beliefs, and actions. We will lose friends and family in the process. We will lose ourselves…because as we create change and create a new reality, we cannot take with us our old ways. Our old ways will no longer serve us and take us where we need to go.

And as we step out into the unknown, willing to create our new life, we will experience support in ways we’ve never imagined. Why? Because the universe supports whatever path we choose. The universe works with us, not against us. The life we live now, was created by us and supported by the universe. The universe is not bias, it only supports and reacts to what we choose to do, at every given moment.

That’s why every choice we make, big or small, is vital in shaping our lives. Every choice carries the weight of creation. Every choice determines our reality.

Are you willing to fight for the life you want? Are you willing to take back your inherent power; the ability to alter, to your benefit, your reality. You are energy and energy can be manipulated to reflect and become what you want it to be. And the universe will fully support it.

You are not alone. There are others just like you who feel like they don’t fit in or belong to the current reality. Or they feel tired of the current reality, like something needs to change, and they have begun to make that change.

You are not alone. You are being called home. You are being called to create.

“There’s some place else that’s calling me home. From an unknown place within my soul. Home. Home. Home it said. You are the universe trying to understand itself.” -Unknown
